Cedar Fence Replacement
A failing wood fence removed and rebuilt as a cedar privacy fence — worked around a retaining wall, raised garden beds and established roses.
📞 (503) 203-1483The existing wood fence was old, weathered and failing in several areas. We removed the damaged fence and replaced it with a new cedar privacy fence.
The site had a narrow work area, an existing raised garden bed, landscaping and a retaining wall along the fence line. We worked carefully around these conditions while removing the old fence and setting the new posts.

Before
Boards were split, cupped and grey with age, several pickets had broken off at the top, and sections of the fence had started to lean. Roses and established landscaping grew tight against the fence line, and a stone retaining wall ran the length of the run — all of it had to stay.

Removal and new posts
We removed the existing fence and the deteriorated materials, laid out the new fence line, and set new wood posts in concrete. The narrow work area meant the old fence, the spoil and the new material all had to be moved through the same side yard, so the run was staged in sections to keep the garden beds and retaining wall undisturbed.

Framing and cedar boards
New horizontal rails went on once the posts were set, followed by cedar dog-ear fence boards. We worked around the existing retaining wall, garden beds, roses and landscaping as the run went up, then cleaned the work area and left the property with a solid, clean-looking privacy fence.
Finished result
The new cedar fence gives the side yard a cleaner appearance and restores privacy. The new posts and framing provide a strong structure, while the cedar boards give the fence a simple, natural finish that fits the home and yard.
